Frequently Asked Questions
Everything guests usually ask us before booking — if you don't see your question here, just contact us.
What's included in a rafting tour?
Every tour includes hotel pickup in La Ceiba, a full safety briefing, professional gear (helmet, life jacket, and paddle), and an experienced guide — there's nothing extra to bring or rent.
Do I need rafting experience?
Not at all. Before anyone touches the water, your guide runs a full safety briefing covering how to sit and paddle, basic commands, and what to do if you go in the water. If you'd rather start gentler, our Family-Friendly Rafting tour is built around calmer rapids.
What should I bring?
Clothes and shoes you don't mind getting wet (a swimsuit works well under quick-dry clothing), sunscreen, and a change of clothes for afterward. All safety gear is provided.
Will I get to swim?
Yes — between the named rapids there are calm stretches where you can swim where it's safe, and our Hiking Pico Bonito tour ends at a waterfall with a pool that's perfect for cooling off.
Is food included?
You'll get fresh local fruit and cold water on the river, and most trips wrap up back at the operations center with showers and an optional traditional Honduran lunch.
Which tour should I choose?
It depends what you're after: Cangrejal River Whitewater Rafting is our classic run, Family-Friendly Rafting is the gentler option, Advanced Rafting Experience tackles the more technical sections, and Sunset Rafting Adventure times your run for golden hour. Traveling as a larger group or want your own private departure? Group Rafting Packages and Private Rafting Tours are built for exactly that.
Do you offer anything besides rafting?
Yes — Hiking Pico Bonito La Ceiba takes you into Pico Bonito National Park on the La Roca Trail, through rainforest and past streams to a waterfall, with guides watching for wildlife like toucans, parrots, and motmots along the way.
How does pickup work?
We collect you directly from your hotel in La Ceiba — just let us know where you're staying when you book.
Can I book a large group or a private tour?
Yes. Group Rafting Packages are built for friends, families, and teams (contact us for group rates), and Private Rafting Tours can be tailored to your group's own pace and skill level.
What's the best time of year to raft the Cangrejal?
It depends what kind of trip you want — the river runs differently through the dry and wet seasons, which changes how big the rapids run. We've put together a full seasonal rafting guide to help you plan.
