A lot of our guests build the Cangrejal River into a bigger trip along Honduras's north coast. If you're planning more than a single day, here's how the pieces tend to fit together.
Pick your days on the river
Between rafting and hiking, there's enough here for a couple of full days without repeating yourself. Our Classic Rafting Tour and Pico Bonito hike pair naturally — one day on the water, one day in the rainforest. Groups traveling together sometimes prefer our Group Rafting Packages, while families often go with the Family-Friendly Rafting trip instead of the more technical run.
Where to stay
Our sister property, Hotel Guacamayos La Ceiba, is a convenient, comfortable place to base yourself in La Ceiba between activities — close enough that you're not losing half your day to transit.
Getting around
If you're not renting a car, Shuttle Guacamayos runs transfers around La Ceiba and can help you get from the airport to your hotel, and from your hotel to the river.
Who you'll be rafting with
We've been guiding trips on the Cangrejal for 10 years, started and still run by Joseph Castillo. Small groups, real safety briefings, and gear that's checked before every trip — that's the whole approach.
